There are few things more frustrating than being faced with a yarn you love, and have no idea how much to buy. Well, there is one thing worse - buying the yarn and running out of it when you are almost done. It is important to understand how much yarn typical projects take so you can buy the correct amount. Overbuying, and underbuying (the worst possible scenario), can be avoided.
