Woven Button and spool knitted closure-Links
I’ve been working on re-fashioning a coat that was too big and floppy into a hooded jacket that I like a lot. I had stalled on it, so I shamed myself into blogging about it… and it lead to a really fun burst of creativity when my son in law didn’t like the button I used at first. He suggested working with Chinese knots…. and one thing lead to another.
Here’s the links for the whole process:
Part 1: Getting motivated to finish the jacket
Part 2: I thought that I was done…. even though I had made a mess of the buttonhole….
Part 3: Which lead to a discussion about ‘not so perfect’….
Part 4: And inspiration! Chinese knots? no…. weaving and spool knitting - yes!
Part 5: Covering buttons with woven squares
Part 6: Spool knitting the cord and shaping the business part of the closure
Part 7: Putting it all together- fait accompli! yes!
I’m going to use this idea again! I like it…..

What a great closure you have made and really teved up the beauty of your ‘new’ coat! It is a lot better than the Chinese Knot! A bit easier too as I have made some of those chinese Closures!
