What Can you do with a Flat Doll?
People have been asking me about the Flat Dolls that I make.
One very good question was:
‘Um…. what do you ~do~ with them after you make them?’
Well…. lots of things:
I decorate bags with them:

Or build them into shawls

or jackets

or shrugs

and a ton of vests….

Just to name a few things!
:o)
I combine weaving, tatting, crochet, spoolknitting, embroidery, with beads, buttons, charms, found objects…..
whatever seems to want to go into the piece.
Where ever the piece takes me. Much of my life is focused on designing things and then writing patterns that will allow other people to make them. So, sometimes, it is just a treat to let my imagination go wild and make pieces that are totally one of a kind. These all are done with combinations of hand spun silk and wool and some commercial yarns, too.
By the way….. please don’t copy the images on this blog,
share the url - not the pix…. thanks so much!
And, let your imagination run wild….
who knows where it and your favorite ball of yarn
will take you!
hugs

I am so pleased, Karen!
Perhaps you could make your Mom a comfie shawl with dolls on and in it…….
That would be wonderful!

I would like to see your ton of vests!
I am making a shawl for myself. It is finished, now for the embellishment. I have put a flower on so far. My Cat Tessy, my friend passed on last Friday.I want to feature a cat on my shawl and also have flowers that I sew on. I will show you when I am done.My cat Max is sleeping on it now.

I am so sorry about the passing of your feline friend, Karen! I look forward to seeing how you memorialize her on your shawl.
When one of our sweet kitties passed, I made Cat Angel Dolls, and wove a vest with a flat Angel Cat doll homage to her on it.
big hugs
