Hankering for Yarn

Vintage no? new? yes!

I am passionate about small loom weaving.

I have a collection of vintage looms that I dearly love, including Lily Speed oWeave looms and Magic square looms.

Technically, they are not ~weaving~ looms. They are ‘hold your yarn in nifty patterns and go into an altered state of consciousness and tie rhythmically a sequence of interlocking knots’ looms. But, that’s a bit of a mouthful.

Anyhow, sadly, they are not made anymore.

You can still find them in second hand stores and at yard sales - IF you are lucky.

If not, then you pay through the nose to someone on eBay who DID find them.

Well… I am happy as a clam,

because I’ve found the Butterfly looms.

They are a really nicely made collection of flat board looms that replace the vintage Magic Square and Lily Speed o Weave looms.

They’re sturdy beautifully made and really a pleasure to work on.

And they have a lovely little laser cut butterfly, too…. :o)

I particularly like using the motifs from these looms in combination with crochet.

I’ll post more about them soon. (and more pics, too….)

Oh, the usual disclaimers! No affiliations etc, other than really liking them!

You can also get this type of loom? at http://www.createforless.com . They are made of foam about 3/4″ thick and come in a lot of styles/sizes. I have one but have not tried it yet. Does anyone know how, or if you can join pieces made on this type of loom? I’d like to use them with kids.
