Hankering for Yarn

Very large crochet hooks: A shawl crocheted with the Gulliver Hook

by Noreen on December 23rd, 2006

I was curious to see if the humoungous Gulliver hook was going to be worthwhile …..

so I crocheted a VERY thick and quick shawl with unspun roving held together with a strand of yarn.

Is it ever warm!

I am going to make one with strands of yarn held together, to see how that goes.

I’m also working on a string bag, which I want to be really loopy, so I’ve just started it with only 2 strands held together:

I love string bags, and have designed 2 booklets of designs for them (Knitted String Bags and Crocheted String Bags)

They’re available on my website at:

Bags

(they use regular size hooks, needles and yarn)  :)

Hugs all round,

Merry Christmas!

I think the shawl you did with roving and one strand of yarn is awesome. did you also dye the rovings or did you find them in those colors?

Thank you so much, Diana! The roving was dyed by someone else, bless their hearts!
I love the color shifts that they achieved!
