Tottie Tomato’s Teaparty- Merrie Sunshine meets a new friend
Tottie Tomato was chatting with Merrie Sunshine about the Virtual Teaparty:
‘Why don’t you bring a friend to the teaparty?’ suggested Tottie Tomato.
Oh! what a great idea!
Merrie Sunshine knew who she’d like to invite…. the dragon who lives behind the Story Door! She must have some wonderful stories to share at the teaparty!
So, off Merrie Sunshine went to the Story Door.
It was really easy to find the Story Door, because she knew the way. She decided that all she had to do, was to close her eyes and imagine herself there. It worked!
Merrie Sunshine asked Madama Dragon if she’d like to come to Tottie and Phineas’ Teaparty.
‘Mmmmmmmmmmmm’, rumbled Madama Dragon…. ‘thank you, but no’….
Merrie Sunshine looked very disappointed.
Madama Dragon explained: “I don’t fit into parlours very well. And I think I am a little allergic to dogs and monkeys. I’m afraid that if they make me sneeze, I’ll burn the carpet and melt the teapot. And, there’s no saying what I might do to the wallpaper!”.
Merrie Sunshine felt sad. She really wanted a friend to go to Tottie’s teaparty with.
Madama Dragon said…. ‘Merrie Sunshine, Look!! The Story Door is opening!’
A polite litte voice said: ‘Excuse me, but did someone loose this ball of yarn?’
Merrie Sunshine and Madama Dragon both said that neither one of them had…..
‘Oh, then perhaps I can keep it!’
‘That sounds like a good idea to me’, said Madama Dragon.
She rumbled politely and shifted from side to side, ‘But, ahem…. what will you do with it? You don’t appear to have any hands!’
The little girl burst into tears and declared: “That is what I want more than anything in the world! Well, hands and a friend…… I really, really want a friend!’
‘Me, too!’, burst out Merrie Sunshine!
Madama Dragon was confused: ‘Merrie Sunshine- you have perfectly fine hands, and many friends!’
Merrie Sunshine blushed, and said, ‘You’re right Madama Dragon, but, I always have room in my heart for one more friend!’
Madama Dragon nodded her head… ‘mmmmmmmm’.
She then looked at the little stranger. ‘Allow me to introduce myself- you may call me Madama Dragon’.
‘Are you going to eat me?’, asked the little girl with no hands.
‘Not in this story!’, laughed Madama Dragon.
‘And you are?’ enquired the ancient dragon.
‘Keiko!’
‘Well, Keiko, I suggest that you go back through the Story Door and wish for a new pair of hands!’
And that is just what Keiko did.
‘Hurry back, Keiko!’, called Merrie Sunshine,’ I want you to meet my friends Tottie Tomato and Phineas and Dottie and Pinkie and Blue Bear and Tilda and… ‘
‘Excuse me, Merrie Sunshine’, interrupted Madama Dragon, very gently…. ‘but the sooner you let Keiko close the Story Door and imagine a lovely new pair of hands, the sooner she can come back!’……
Merrie Sunshine closed the Story Door softly, and turned to Madama Dragon. ‘Do you think Keiko will come back?’
Madama Dragon tilted her head, and listened very carefully….
‘Merrie Sunshine! I think she already is!”
And sure enough!
The Story Door opened…. and Keiko peeked out!
Ah!!
SHE REACHED OUT HER HAND AND WAVED!
Merrie Sunshine and Madama Dragon cheered with joy!
‘Oh Keiko! What beautiful hands you have imagined for yourself! What wonderful things you’ll be able to make with them!’ declared Madama Dragon.
‘And, now, my dears,’ sighed Madama Dragon, ‘I am rather sleepy, and would appreciate a nap’.
Merrie Sunshine and Keiko said goodbye to Madama Dragon, who slipped behind the Story Door.
Soon, the sounds of Madama Dragon snoring flowed under the Story Door like waves across the sand.
‘Come on, Keiko, let’s go see Tottie Tomato!’
Hand in hand, Merrie Sunshine and Keiko skipped off to Tottie Tomato’s house to tell her the story of Keiko’s new hands.
May you find joy and delight in all the makings of your hands and heart today.
hugs all round,
Noreen

Thank you, Kesam!
Actually, Noreen wove it for me on her potholder loom, because I was just getting used to my lovely new hands. But, she did exactly what I asked her to, and I am very pleased with it!
big hugs and happy waves with my new hands,
