Hankering for Yarn

thinking about joy….

by Noreen on April 9th, 2007

Today, the sun came out, the snow literally began to vanish before our eyes, and life felt very good!

Jim and I were talking about the things that bring joy into our lives. We agreed that for us, the process of creating is essential for us to feel joy.

For instance, I was working away on some new spoolknitters, that I call the Imagination/Inspiration spoolies. Suddenly, as I was quietly burning ( ‘i’ for inspiration and hearts for love and ‘!’ for celebrating creativity) onto the spoolknitters, I felt the most wonderful wave of contentment and pure and simple joy wash over me.

I have a ‘thing’ about Einstein. (Yes, I did the drawing and burning of the plate in the pic above. Jim, my DH, turned it on the lathe.)

I love Einstein’s quotations about imagination, inspiration and creativity, so these spoolies are an homage to him!

I’ve been using them to make the handmade, handbound journals:

and, even though I am still wildly inspired by them, there are several other things that I am chomping at the bit to get up and running with. So, that’s it for now for the little handmade handbound journals. There are a slew of links following this posting that will take you to the cycle of postings about the handmade books. It all started with this one:

handmade books

and it has been a really joy filled voyage of discovery! (Including being inspired to create the imagination/inspiration spoolies and to make boards for people who want to make their own notebooks and journals

Small things can indeed  be the source of great joy. May you find something today that brings you home to your source of joy!

:D

Mind how you go, and as someone signed a note to me today: Tread lightly….   I like that! so, tread lightly and wrap yourself in joy!
