The Sisterhood of the Travelling Crochet Hook:1
Okay. It was inevitable.
Put a piece of wood in my hand, and it’s going to happen.
Yup.
Fairies, gnomes, bumble bees, lady bugs and their friends are going to show up.
So.
I was working away on a Gulliver crochet hook for my friend and fellow spoolknitting fanatic, Maitri
No problem. I have been working away sculpting and carving Gulliver hooks for days now.
BUT!
It happened. Ask most any dollmaker, and they will tell you that, suddenly, the doll in your hands ~speaks~ to you.
Um…….. wait a minute! Didn’t I just say that I was carving
~crochet hooks~ ?! And big honking ones at that?
Yup.
Like I said. It’s inevitable. Hand me a piece of wood, and ask me to make a spoolknitter. It turns into a dolly spoolknitter.
Hand me a freshly turned ‘almost-crochet hook’ and ask me to carve the hook, and ……… it’s dolly time!
This is what happened with Maitri’s Gulliver Crochet hook:

Maitri thinks she’ll need a crane to heft it. Nah, she’s big, but she’s actually very comfortable to work with. And, oh so much fun!
I got SO EXCITED while I was making this hook!
Bells went off!
I suddenly KNEW that the time of the Sisterhood of the Travelling Crochet Hook had arrived!
Tell you all about it in the next post….
hugs all round,
Noreen
