The Sisterhood of the Travelling Crochet Hook: 6: How to join in on the fun

by Noreen on January 5th, 2007

At first, when I was thinking about The Sisterhood of the Travelling Crochet Hook, I thought that it would be a kind of round robin. But, then, I got one of those ‘woojie’ feelings up my spine, remembering the laments of people on email lists, who sent off their treasures in trust, only to have them vanish.

shudder.

I had fallen totally in love with one of the Gulliver crochet hooks that I had just made-

and realized that I was not about to part with it -

I would have been crushed to have her get lost on her travels.

So, I came up with a different way of creating

The Sisterhood of the Travelling Crochet Hook-

Here’s how:
1: You can be part of The Sisterhood of the Travelling Crochet Hook on your own, or with a trusted friend or sister or group of friends.

2: You decide which hook will become your Travelling Crochet Hook. It can be wild and whimsical, like the Gulliver hooks that we make
(click on Gulliver Hooks) or a plain and simple crochet hook.

3: You decide what kind of adventure your hook is going to have. Will it be a time traveller, and have a teaparty with Jane Austen?

or perhaps a chat with The Empress Theodora about matters of state?

4: Will your Travelling crochet hook accompany you on your next trip to your favorite place on earth? Or just to your favorite yarn shop or bookstore? Take pictures! Tell us about it! Send them to me, and I’ll post them (the usual disclaimers about respecting copyright and good taste etc) to the blog!

5: Will you send your travelling crochet hook to friends and relations and have it photographed with them? Yay! Send pictures!

6: Will your Travelling Crochet hook be an agent of social change as it whips up beautiful expressions of loving kindness and compassion for other people? Hurrah! Send pictures and tell us all about it!

7:  Will your Travelling Crochet hook open doors to imagination, creativity and wholeness? Is it a paint brush, a sculpting tool, a magic wand? YES, Yes, yes!

Crocheting is pure unalloyed delight!

Have fun by joining

The Sisterhood of the Travelling Crochet Hook

and sharing the adventures of the sisterhood (men are welcome, and when they join in, will become Misters of the Travelling Crochet Hook)

You don’t have to leave home, but you do have to let your imagination flutter and take wing. And, remember: Don’t leave home without your travelling crochet hook!

Welcome to the Sisterhood of the Travelling Crochet Hook!

All Aboard!

hugs all around!and remember: This blog is copyright protected, so share the URL, but NOT the images or text- thanks soooooooooo much! :)

Wonderful Idea. I am traveling quite a bit, taken my crochet with me, but never taken pictures of my crochet hooks. Will have to find that one special hook to take pictures of. So far, I don’t have any nice fancy hooks, only plain drab ones.

    Hello Jeanette
Actually, your plain drab crochet hooks are magical, too! They bring you joy and express your creativity, don’t they!
    Yes!
    Joy!
    :)
And that is what this is all about…..
