Sticks and Stones: 2
And, speaking of finding beautiful objects in unexpected ways….
One day last winter, Jim brought in a load of firewood for the wood burning stove in the studio. As I was building a fire, I was riveted by a piece of firewood.
It looked like an elegant dancer’s torso.
It was half covered with bark, but had obviously been exposed to the elements for a long time, as the bark fell away, and the wood was smooth……..
I couldn’t burn it.
I sanded it,
and burned the Bird Headed Goddess on it’s ‘belly’, in honor of the birds that had once graced it’s branches.
It inspires me.
And I love it.
It makes me feel very grateful
for the unlimited beauty of the trees……..
May beauty and inspiration surround you!

Hi Noreen,
I love your new blog. Your firewood woodburning is wonderful. My husband found a really unique looking palm wood leftover with wood branches sticking up all over the place. I am still waiting for inspiration to come to me.

Thanks, Karen! I hope that you will soon ‘hear’ what the ‘gift wood’ wants to become!
