Sticks and Stones: 1

by Noreen on June 5th, 2006

There is something in the human psyche that loves to stack things.
Think of babies, and their fascination with objects that can be balanced, however precariously, one on top of another.

There is also something in humans that ‘clicks’ and says:
“~that~, even though it is totally unlike ~this~, makes me think
of ~this~, when I put it together like t-h-i-s……

Which leads me to sticks and stones and the other building blocks that we find in nature.

A stack of small stones can be a lovely meditative ’sacred doll’

Why? because it reminds us of our connection to the Source, to Nature, to all of Creation.

There is nothing slower than rock, although, add enough heat, and it MOVES!
So, playing with a pile of lovely, rough, but carefully chosen stones can be the perfect way to slow down a racing mind -

Or: To kick start a boiling, no-holds-barred volcano of inspiration and creativity!

When you open yourself up to seeing unexpected connections in nature, you will kickstart your creativity. See the amazing little ‘face’ rock in the photos above? I was riding my bicycle, and glanced down. I was astonished to see a face in the road! I had to stop, go back and search until the little stone revealed itself to me again. I treasure it like a diamond!

I hope that you will find treasures in unexpected places,
and that they will stack up in fascinating ways,
making your own unique sacred dolls and metaphors…….
and your own unique life.
hugs all ’round,
Noreen
