Hankering for Yarn

Spoolknitting Tip and Hint: Cutting cords

by Noreen on January 30th, 2007

One of life’s pleasures is to spool away, meditatively turning and wrapping, lifting the stitches, and letting the cares of the day slip away.

Feel free to spool endless, unmeasured cords, because you can always quickly and easily snip the cord to any length. That way, you can make all kinds of wonderful projects, without worrying about measuring and fiddling.

Here’s how to cut the cord to the correct length:

Measure your cord, and in a row that is just a little longer than the length you want:
Slide the tip of sharp scissors under one strand of a stitch and snip.

Ease the yarn ends out of the stitches on both ends of the cord (on either side of the snip). Take the ends through a darning needle, and thread them through the stitches that were released. This will give you 2 cords, with anchored ends.

Enjoy your spoolie!

hugs all round,
