Spoolknitting and wooden dolls: It’s never too late to have a happy childhood….

by Noreen on February 4th, 2007

Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved wooden dolls.

How I envied my friend, Shirley, who had a Russian stacking doll!

Shirley and I used to play with our paper dolls for hours on end. Shirley had a set of paper dolls that I longed for! The ‘paper’ dolls were at least 1/4 inch thick, and felt wonderfully 3 dimensional. I don’t know if they were actually wooden, but I thought of them as being wooden dolls.

Oh! How I lusted after those wooden paper dolls! I would have happily traded a sibling for them.

Well, I am glad that I didn’t offer up my sibs in exchange for those wonderful dolls as I have found a way to have my very own ‘wooden paper doll’.
It’s never too late to have a happy childhood, right?

And so - I have designed and made these wooden
‘Merrie Sunshine’ dolls.

Click on MERRIE SUNSHINE to see more.

Of course, I’ve designed a book full of paper clothes to make for the Merrie Sunshines, too.

You can see more about it at the bottom of the page on: Merrie Sunshine Paper Clothes

And remember…..have a happy childhood, and a very happy ‘now-hood’!
