Spoolknitted Menopause Fairy Doll

by Noreen on April 18th, 2007

Designing and making the Red Hat Spoolknitters

red-hat-spoolknitters-qs16.jpg

and then the Spoolknitted Red Hats naturally got the wheels turning for me…

If there is a Red Hat, shouldn’t there be a perfect little doll to wear it? And wouldn’t that perfect doll be a Menopause Fairy?

Part of the designing process is to get it ~close~ but not quite there. The ‘not quite right’ piece becomes the foundation for the ‘yessireeBobThat’sTheONE!’.So, here’s my ‘not quite right’ Menopause Fairy that I designed and spoolknitted today, using a Red Hat spoolknitter. spoolknitted-menopause-fairy-qs.jpg

Here’s a question…..
…. if the tooth fairy takes away abandoned teeth and leaves money, what does the Menopause Fairy take away?

And….. even more important -

WHAT DOES SHE LEAVE BEHIND?

the mind boggles.

hugs all round

Ahhh, the Menopause Fairie. How I wish I could attend your class on this one. In answer to your question about what this particular fairie takes away…I can only hope that she takes away hot flashes and night sweats. Maybe if I hang her over my bed, I can sleep thru the night. What do you think?

Well, since I don’t have hot flashes or hot flushes any more, I also would like her to take away migraines and headaches. I would also like to sleep all night instead of having to get up to toilet 3-4 times. LOL
She is adorable Noreen but I agree, something is missing!!!

The Menopause fairy, left me more time and money that i spent on `something else` to spend now on My art and craft. She left on my shoulders , not under my cushion , a will to enjoy this part of my life , and make nicer things for others ,,, mirjam

    Noreen,
She’s absolutely darling! I would like her to take away the stiffness that plagues my body and leave more energy to do the things I have on my To Do list.

I never heard of a menopause fairy. I guess that’s something to look forward to.

Ah, Jacqui…. I think that being able to sleep right through the night would be a blessing for most of us! I get the feeling that a lot of us are walking into walks from sleep deprivation! I know I am! ugh!

The next generation of Menopause Fairies are coming off the hook and spoolies right now, and the ‘missing links’ are coming together…. will post soon….

    Hi Cay
Thank you so much! Perhaps I should design a ‘Resiliency Fairy’! I sure hear you on the stiffness factor - stretch stretch stretch…. gently!
:D There…….. I just had a little stretch myself! LOL!
    Now, about that sleep deprivation…….

    Hi Rhea
You haven’t heard of the Menopause Fairy because she leapt out of my imagination!
BUT, now that she’s here - that makes her ‘real’ right?
    ROTFLOL!
:D Hugs from Noreen, and the Menopause Fairy, too!

The Menopause Fariy takes away misgivings/uncertainty and leaves behind calm.

She’s joyful! Thanks for sharing the process.
    Hugs,

Take away childish worries, and leave the serenity that comes with maturity (OK, maybe not maturity, I’m still not mature…*grin*…chronolgical age then!)…the knowledge that it doesn’t matter, really it doesn’t!

Yes…. it would be like Dame Julian of Norwich saying: ‘And all shall be well….’
    Lovely to hear from you!
