Snow on the studio windows!
We are snowed under!

That’s a ‘mini-glacier’ sliding off the hayshed roof.
Last night, we had a huge snowstorm that whirled up great
banks of snow. Our house is built into a hillside, and the lower level is my studio. It’s passive solar, and the studio has southfacing, slanted windows. And, I can’t see out them.
Why? because they are covered with snow.
Here they are from the outside:

I tried to get the impact of the huge swirly snowbank outside the windows, but it’s hard to get the impact of the depth of the snow.
We have to watch our little dog like a hawk, in case he goes through the snow. Usually, the greyhound and newf plow out a path for him…..
BTW, the weird round thing in the upper right hand of the pic is the bottom of the hanging tomato planter.
Guess someone should have brought it in by now, right?
ahem.
Too busy working on Christmas presents
and meeting design deadlines.
:o)
hugs all round,
Noreen

I’m glad we’re not snowed in . . . although some downtime would be nice.
It’s about 65 degrees here today in central North Carolina. The weather has been crazy!

Hi Karen,
:) Being snowed in doesn’t = down time *G*
We are going like blazes to get Christmas presies made….. but the snow does make it look more like a Christmas card. Unfortunately, it also makes it a heck of a lot harder to drive…. brrrr and grrrrr
Global weirding. Alas…..
Holiday blessings no matter what the weather!

How much snow did you get? It looks like you got quite a bit. I’m not sure we’d be able to get around here.

I didn’t hear the scientific measurement from the weather report, but it was inches and inches that heaped up into feet and feet of snow and snow banks. It came down on top of ice rain, so driving was brutal.
‘Horrific’ was the word they used on telly! ugh.
Puhleezzzzzzzzzzze….. spring, soon?

I like a little snow, but certainly not the freezing rain on top of that. I’m sure it is hard to get around. Once it gets packed down it’s a mess.
It is almost hot out today. I’m having to use the heat at night and the air during the day.

Our house is passive solar, so today, when the sun finally came out, the studio warmed right up- very cosy! And in the evening, we have the wood burning stove.
It’s good to have the snow, as this helps ease the effects of years of drought.
It’s just that driving is so grim with the ice under the snow.
For quite a few years, we have had almost no snow, so it’s rather hard to adjust to feet and feet of it again!
I can’t imagine having to use an air conditioner in December, is this new to you, too, Karen?
Oh my, the effects of climate change!
yikes!

I am from the coast of North Carolina, so it’s not uncommon to have a warm Christmas. I remember one year I couldn’t wear any of my new Christmas clothes because it was so warm outside. I live in the western part of NC now, so a/c in December is unusual. We do have quick climate changes here. I remember last year we had freezing rain. We had tree branches and trees coming down all around us. We lost power for 3 days. But the day after the storm it warmed up and everything melted. It was nice outside, except there were trees blocking the road. It’s crazy sometimes.
