Smiling Divinity Spool Knitter

by Noreen on November 19th, 2007

Recently, a friend of ours sent us a picture of 3 birds in flight.

It’s a really neat pic, because, even though you can see that it is 3 birds flying over some trees, there is more to it.

It’s rather like seeing faces in clouds, because when you look at the photo in a ‘non literal’ way, it looks like a smiling face.

And, it’s a gentle, very ~sublime~ smiling face at that….

I was inspired to draw the ‘Smiling Divinity of the 3 birds in flight’  on a spool knitter that has been sitting on my desk for awhile. It’s cut from a piece of arbutus wood, which is my all time favorite wood to work in. I’ve been meaning to draw and burn some runes on it, but the ‘right’ ones haven’t sprung to mind.

So, seeing the photo made me go- oh yes!

Here’s the ‘Smiling Divinity Spool Knitter’:

When we were in Victoria, BC, in Western Canada in September, there were several eagles swooping and soaring over our heads. I had my camera clicking like mad…. I wanted to try and capture the sense of wonder and awe I felt at having eagles in aerial ballet just over our heads.   Seeing the picture of the 3 unidentified birds brought back that feeling of pure joy.
So, I am grinning as widely as the face on this spool knitter right now. Some things are worth remembering!

Yep - this spool knitter is a ‘gratitude’ spoolie!

hugs all round
