Small looms I love- Weavette looms

In 1999, I was thrilled to find 3 vintage Weave-it looms at a church rummage sale. I paid 75 c for all 3 of them!

I was really grateful that one of them came with an instruction booklet, because even though I’d been weaving for decades, I found the Weave-its to be intriguing- and totally counter intuitive! If I hadn’t had that little instruction manual, I would have had a heck of a time ‘breaking the code’ on them.

I searched to find a source for new versions of the Weave-it loom, as I was writing my book, Soul Mate Dolls: Dollmaking as a Healing Art. I couldn’t find a source for them, so I talked to Jules and Kaethe Kliot at Lacis.

They came up with a way of being able to weave small squares in the same style as the weave-it looms:

A clever little pinboard loom kit

And then! Joy of joys! just before the book was due to go to print, I discovered that Licia Conforti was now reproducing the Weave-it looms and selling them through her company:

Buxton Brook

So, I was able to get Weavettes into the book- YAY!

Licia has continued to improve the Weavettes and they are just plain bliss.

I’ve been posting a lot lately about my vintage Weave-its and how useful they are… which wouldn’t be fair if you couldn’t get them, too!

A collection of Weavette and Weave-it looms photographed on a vest that I wove using Weavette looms, pinboard looms, inkle and potholder looms.   The angels were woven, knitted and crocheted. The mermaid’s tail was woven on Weavette looms.
