Saori weaving on Salt Spring Island
My best friend, Terri Bibby teaches Saori Weaving
and she is deeply committed to weaving a new peace and writes a wonderful blog .
When Jim and I were in Salt Spring a week or so ago, we had a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too short visit with Terri and her wonderful husband, Alan and her delightful parents, Dawn and Maurie.
For me, one of the absolute highlights of the trip was to be able to be with Terri in her studio, with each of us sitting at her gorgeous Saori Looms, weaving and talking……
Time flew by waaaaaaaaaay to quickly and soon we had to race off to catch the ferry. I can hardly wait to go back…..
This is the little piece of Saori weaving that I did while we wove together. The beautiful red yarn came from Terri’s trip to Argentina this spring. How incredibly generous of her to let me use it in my weaving.
The colors really spoke to me: Coming from both ends of the spectrum, fire and ice, earth and water. And, it was important to me to have the reds interlocking with the blues.
It’s a metaphor of how my life feels so transitional right now. Preparing to move……. and pulling up roots, getting ready to take wing….. oh my!
I think I wove myself a new little security blankie!
I need it…
:)
hugs all round,
Noreen
