Ribbon Yarn - WIP
I broke out the camera (which I am still learning to use, so bear with me) to share another project with you. This is one of the ones I bought at the first of the month when I was having far too much fun shopping online for yarn.
I am making a wonderful pattern that I found at e-patternscentral.com. These are not free patterns, but for the low price, they are as close as it gets to free. These are quality patterns made by companies such as “House of White Birches,” “American School of Needlecraft,” and “True Colors.” They are purchased and then available for download immediately. You can read them in your Adobe ebook reader (which is really nifty - make notes, cross off lines as you follow instructions, and highlight the information pertinent to your project) and/or print them. The one I am making is called “Brushstrokes Poncho” - take a look at it - I think it will be marvelous in this yarn I also found the same day at a yarn store.
Anyway, here is the yarn. I absolutely love it. The yarn is called Katia Denim and it is unique and very special. It is a ribbon yarn and it feels just as wonderful as it looks. It is 40% cotton, 40% acrylic, and 20% nylon. It is found at Elann.com which is a yarn site I have consistently found good luck with, both in price and quality.
I am working this yarn on size 17 needles and it lends itself nicely to the airy feeling of the Brushstroke Poncho. I envision it with blue jeans or a blue denim skirt or perhaps, best yet, a white pair of slacks and a light blue tank top. I am thinking spring and summer and starting on time this year!
I think this pattern will work up quickly so I have should have some photos of a little more substance soon. It seems to fly by and it is so much fun to work with. I am unsure of how it would work up in crocheting - ribbon yarn is so different in crochet than it is in knit, but those who love the yarn would undoubtedly find a wonderful way to crochet with it.
Now I have to mention the book in the background. I put it there for an excuse to talk about it. It is a new (well, newer than the others) of “Dark Night of the Soul,” by St. John of the Cross. This is my current read. I absolutely love the author”s translation of this book and recommend it highly. Take a look at it. We all have dark nights within our soul and it is only when the dawn approaches that we realize how necessary the night was and what it has done for us.
Ta-ta for now! Have a wonderful day or evening and…
Just keep knitting, just keep knitting…
Elann.com - Fabulous yarns at great prices!
