Recurring Themes: Forgiveness: Teeny Tiny Paper Dolls
You know that phrase:
“The lesson is repeated until it is learned”
?
Well, it seems to me, that one of the lessons
that I really need to learn in this lifetime
is how to lighten up
and forgive
other people
and myself.
I keep finding all kinds of lessons to help myself learn this lesson.
It really helps me to remember the lesson
if I make a reminder of it,
so that every time I see the reminder -
I remember the lesson.
and……
the best kind of reminder,
it seems to me,
is
so often
a doll.
Now
dolls don’t have to be big extravagant objects.
Nope.
Even a teeny tiny paper doll can carry a lot of clout
when she symbolizes a big learning.
Recently, I was in the dollar store.
I was tickled pink to find punches that make
little wee paper dolls.
Confession:
I LOVE paper dolls.
Always have.
I make paper dolls in all kinds of ways: With origami, wood, weaving, knitting, crochet, metal, beads….
(and, yup, and I still call them ‘paper’ dolls!)
So, anyhow, back to the new paper punch.
It makes goofy little paper dolls
(they’re about 3/4 inch tall- small but mighty)
and,
I have been working with them to symbolize a really important ‘learning experience’ in my life.

I think that we all need to remember the power of the small. Years ago, I wrote and performed a puppet show that was all about how small beings can create big BIG changes.
And, that’s the point of this very small doll. …. We can decide that, yes, we are small in lots of ways, BUT, we can make choices and decisions that will make the world a better place. And, that it is better to keep making those small changes that do add up and up, than to remain stagnant and impotent.
Inch by inch, row by row, we can make the garden grow……
hugs all round,
Noreen
