Potholder Loom Weaving: Further adventures of 2 color weaving on the potholder loom
The easiest way to weave a plaid-ish looking piece on the potholder loom is to use variegated yarn.
This Butterfly doll has plaid-ie wings that were made just by weaving with variegated yarn. Easie peasie.
she’s from my book:

To make checked fabric, here’s another 2 color technique:

Warp the loom over 6 sets of pegs with light yarn, then 6 sets of pegs with dark yarn, and then with 6 sets of pegs with light yarn.
Now, weave 6 white passes, 6 dark passes, 6 white passes.

Chain it off, and, because I am using handspun wool that I want to felt, I will throw it in the washer with a load of laundry set to warm/cool.

and it shrinks and felts and is ready to become part of something wonderful!
