How to make a yo-yo circle

Yo-yo circles are one of my favorite things to stitch. You can add all kinds of crocheted, knitted, woven and tatted elements, put them all together and make a ‘memory’ vest, like I did in this posting:

yo-yo vest

I asked friends and relations to give me a small square of fabric and I used them to make the yo yo’s for the vest. I also included crochet, tatting, woven circles and found objects. It’s a vest that I treasure.  OH, yes… it began it’s life as another vest that I turned inside out to cover with the yo yo circles.

A lady asked in the comments section of:

Vest Workshop

How do you make a yo-yo circle?

Here’s how:

You can make a yo yo vest for a teddy bear like the one I spoolknitted with baler twine:

and, Chloe, over at

TangledThread

makes gorgeous things with yo-yo circles. She’s running a series of postings about them right now, which I think is neat synchronicity.

Sorry, but the pattern for random-lace-yo-yo-vest-back-qs.jpg

this vest is not currently available. I’ve been getting emails from people, asking me to publish a book on the Cross Currents vests, so I should probably start working on that!

:) The pattern isn’t available, but I DO ~teach~ it in workshops, and am offering it at the

Knit and Crochet

show this summer in Manchester NH

May the ‘yo’ be with you!

:D   hugs all round, Noreen
