Finding parts for vintage Lily Speed-o-weave Looms
I have a fondness for the old metal Lily Speed-o-weave looms. They’re kind of weird, but they’re very appealing….

I have 2 of the hexagonal ones, and would love to find a square/rectangular one.
Anyhow, today, I glanced over at a placemat that I had made on the Lily Speed-o-weave loom, and was taken by how much the pattern looks like the ‘tumbling blocks’ quilting pattern. I took a picture of it:

but it’s hard to get the camera to see it the way my eye does…..
oh well….. c’est la vie.
Anyhow, I wrote a tutorial for weaving with the Lily Speed-o-weave loom and posted it to my website:

and, get a lot of emails from people, saying that they can’t find parts for their Speed-o-Weave Loom.
Well, one of my Speed-o-Weave’s was missing the wing nuts and bolts, so Jim took a piece of it to the hardware store, and bless his heart, found ones that work perfectly! Yay!

If it is the little shuttle that you are missing, then you have a few options:

I traced the original one on the left onto some brass and made one. It was a lot of work, and I am not selling them, because I would have to charge $50 or so to make it worth the time. So, no one is going to go for that!
BUT - if you have a tatting shuttle like the one in the middle, then, that works just fine.
So, if you have a Speed-o-Weave, but have been stymied, now you can get yourself going on it!
Keep flipping those stitches!
hugs all round
