Eco bracelets-1
We’re getting closer and closer to Earth Day (well, actually…..
EVERY day SHOULD be Earth Day), so I’ve decided to share a few of the eco friendly things that are happening in my studio.
I love taking something that -could- be thrown away, and reclaiming it by making something else with it.
For instance….. I recently broke a small keel style inkle loom:
At first, I thought…. oh man, that’s curtains for this little loom! But, I couldn’t bear the thought of just throwing it away.
I decided to make a couple of bracelets with it.
I drew some freeform-ish shapes on it, and glued pegs into the holes that needed them. Then I cut the 2 shapes out:
Next… it was time to start filing, sanding and shaping:
I’ll show later what I did with the open bracelet, but here’s what I am doing now with the round one:
The round one just kept feeling more and more organic, so I got more and more ‘lyrical’ in the shaping.
And, tonight, I started burning the embellishment on it.
I’ll finish up the burning soon, and will take more pics.
I’m pleased- A broken loom turns into bracelets that feel lovely to wear. That’s a little ‘eco’ that pleases me enormously!
What ‘eco’ treats do you have up your sleeve?
