Hankering for Yarn

Clover Wonder Knitter

by Chloe on May 22nd, 2006

I recently got a Clover Wonder Knitter and decided to give it a whirl. It’s pink & sparkly, that’s got to be a good start, right?

It’s a spool knitter with two interchangable ‘heads’ that allow you to work with three pegs (for a thinner cord) or six pegs (which give you all kinds of options!) The heads actually spin around while you hold the body of the knitter in one place, as opposed to traditional spool knitters which you turn in your hand. It also has a small arm that guides the yarn as you’re working with it.

Here’s the knitter (which also comes with a nice little hook for lifting the yarn loops)

It’s a nice little spool knitter to work with, and comfortable to hold as well. I really didn’t like the yarn guide, so ended up just using it like a traditional spool knitter. The removable heads are a clever idea, and give a lot more options for what you can do with it. I didn’t find the rotating head to be that useful over the normal knitter, but I am also quite an experienced spool knitter. It may be more convient if you’re new to spool knitters.

I’m designing a necklace using cord from this knitter. I’ll post a finished picture & instructions tomorrow. For now, here’s the cord on the knitter:

Can’t wait to see the finished product. Do they have auto knitters that will magically produce a sweater? ;)
