Organize that yarn

I’ve been posting about organizing yarn stashes
Here’s one of my most favorite book cases. It’s GREAT for storing yarn and stashes:

We found it at a garage sale. For FREE! The lady who owned it reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally hated it. (I didn’t ask why).
On the second shelf, I have a heap of yarn in wire baskets from […]

Three doors down - And three up!

The Three Doors Down project on b5 is so neat! It’s giving me a great excuse to enjoy some of  ‘blogging neighbours’ on b5.
Here’s a link that explains what the ‘3 doors down’ project is.
This morning, one of my neighbours UP the b5 blog list (Jennifer at De Clutter It) wrote a posting about hankering […]

Easiest EVER Knitted Angel

The ‘newspaper yarn’ has gone viral on the net…. everyone’s talking about it. Cyndi at Layers upon Layers has posted the link to it…. newspaper yarn
That inspired me to dig out my
‘Easiest Ever Knitted Angel’

that I had knitted from tissue paper that I spun with hand spindles.
I don’t like spinning tissue paper on […]

Knitting with handspun tissue paper

There’s been a lot of discussion on several lists about handspun newspaper.
I’ve never spun newspaper, but I have spun tissue paper.
I didn’t like crocheting with the tissue paper yarn.
Weaving with it is fine, too….. and so is knitting it…..
Here’s a little angel doll that I knitted with yarn that I spun from tissue from tissue […]

Puppy fuzz

A friend sent me a fun link this morning….
Martha Stewart blogged about puppy fuzz being spun into chiengora.
Her ChowChow, Paw Paw, got a haircut. She asked what she should use Paw Paw’s fuzz for…..
Well…. I have been spinning our dog’s fuzzies up for years.

I’ve knitted, crocheted, spool knitted and woven all kinds of teddy […]

Spin days

I’ve been spinning up a storm…

A friend recently gifted me with a heap of new rovings. I decided that I would get them spun up right away instead of storing them as clouds of colorful potential…..
Our dogs love the spinning wheel, and like to sleep right beside it while I am spinning.
The cats, however, prefer […]

The Sisterhood of the Travelling Crochet Hook:14: Blizzard!

Yesterday,

This was the view from my studio window….

Earlier, the snow covered the windows completely, so I was grateful when the wind whipped some of it away.

A very good day for the Sisterhood (and Misterhood) of the Travelling Crochet Hook to stay inside and fondle yarn!
brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
hugs all round

Cats are NOT the only ones who love yarn!

“OH, RUFIE! ! !”
expostulated Jim……….
‘what now?’, I thought……….
(since our Minnie cat, whose duty it was to be the ‘Randomizer’, crossed the rainbow bridge in August,  Rufie has felt the need to keep things interesting for us.)
oh……….

He had pulled himself out of the best of the tangle before I could snap the pic, but you get […]

Splitting Hairs: Making the Hair for a Special Memory/Comfort Doll

I am making a doll for my beloved mother-in-law. I’ve been blogging about it on www.sacreddollsandbears.com
It’s a ‘memory’ doll, and I am making it in the hope of bringing comfort to Mum as she struggles with the death of her beloved daughter, Patty.
I knew from the first moment that I started sketching the […]
