Weaving a scarf full of learning experiences

Earlier in May, I read on my dear friend, Terri’s blog about a virtual scarf project.
I was intrigued, and have been thinking about it since.
I am deep into meeting deadlines (VERY tight ones!) on my new book. I debated about taking time off from the book to weave a scarf for the […]

Memorial weaving-3

I’ve been immersed in weaving bands that are going to be part of a memorial for a woman I adored- my late mother-in-law. She was an amazing and delightful woman who was a joy and one of the dearest friends and greatest influences in my life.

Chloë wrote today about her part of the Memorial textiles that we are working on in celebration of the life of her grandmother/my beloved mother-in-law.
Chloë’s doing a fabulous job on them, and it’s a HUGE project, all driven by love.
Jim took some pics of me working on my part…. the weaving of the narrow bands […]

May Wedding: The Flashes for the kilt hose

I wrote about weaving the flashes for the kilt hose for our son, Jim and the groomsmen, here:
flashes
The guys looked so splendid in their kilts, and the woven flashes (basically, woven bands in colors from the tartan, that decorate the garters the men wear to hold up their socks) looked very spiffy!

That’s me, adjusting […]

The Boxter Serendipity Loom: A narrow band/tape loom

Several years ago, I bought an odd little loom from a lady online. She said that she didn’t know exactly what it was, but that it could be used for weaving narrow bands.
I am a passionate ‘narrow band’ weaver, and was intrigued by the possibilities of playing with it.
Because of it’s odd configuration, I use […]
