Butterfly effects in crochet

I am passionate about butterflies. I am constantly designing homages to them in crochet, weaving, knitting, (see yesterday’s entry for a knitted Butterfly Bag), spool knitting, tatting, sewing, you name it. The picture above is a butterfly that is part of a […]

The Crocheted Butterfly Wedding Shawl is done

I cannot remember when I have enjoyed making something as much as this shawl…….
Hundreds of hours of spinning and crocheting have gone into making this handspun silk blessing shawl for our daughter for her wedding this summer.
And every minute of that time, every twist, every stitch- has been filled with love.
I finished it last night […]

An update on the crocheted butterfly wedding shawl

I am crocheting my daughter a shawl for her wedding this summer.  I designed the pattern for the Summer 2006 issue of Knit.1 magazine.    I am spinning the silk for it, and have been spinning up a storm.
The shawl is coming along quite nicely……..

It’s just a joy to spin the silk and crocheting it […]

Tatting Butterflies

I am so excited. I love synchronicity. I have been tatting butterflies like mad for my daughter’s wedding dress.
She’s making it out of dupione silk, and the bustier and train are going to have a whole lot of tatted butterflies, embroidered on with fresh water pearls.
Now, here’s the thing that is so cool….
I am also […]
