Saori weaving in Mola applique style

Last summer, my dear friend, Terri went to Japan to participate in some wonderful Saori weaving events.
She brought back this lovely bag:

The butterfly outline was satin stitched with the weaving behind the cotton. Then the black cotton was carefully cut away to reveal the weaving.
This is a variation on Mola or San Blas appliqué […]

Piglet pouch and weaving birds

It’s a very bad idea to read a hysterically funny book when you are in bed, and your exhausted husband is trying to sleep.
Last night, I was reading with my wee tiny light, trying oh so hard to be inconspicuous…. well…. oops!
I am reading the #1 Ladies Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith, and […]

Knit a Butterfly bag for Mother’s Day

Last year, I designed a Butterfly bag that’s knitted  with crochet edges. It’s spring again! (finally) and time to knit something up (quickly!) for Mother’s Day…….

Don’t have any thick yarn? Easy. Grab 3 or 4 strands of  worsted weight and big fat needles and go for it!

Earth Day - Crocheted Market Bag

We’re big ‘greenies’.  We always carry our own cloth or crocheted grocery bags.
So, to celebrate Earth Day, I want to invite people to whip up some market bags to be oh so handy while they take care of the earth!
The handles are neat because they are made from recycled wire coat hangers.

Here’s the link for […]

Recycled wood bag handles

Last Christmas, my daughter asked me to make her a bag with round wooden handles. I wove the bag, and made the handles from plywood that I painted and varnished.

Thanks to my daughter’s request, I’ve fallen in love with simple  round wooden  bag handles.  I love the way we inspire each other!
Anyhow….. today, I  decided […]

Knitting bags-11

These folding knitting bags oughta be called: ‘Humility Bags’ or ‘Hubris Bags’.
I am so used to being able to figure things out, that I just assume that I can make something. No problemo.
Just a simple little knitting bag, right?
As I said in my last posting:
