Beautiful Cardigan Sweater
I love patterns. I collect them, I think. I have a rather large *discreet cough* bin of patterns. Okay, okay. It’s huge! And that’s apart from my notebook, which I still need to tell you about so you can organize your projects.
But I stumbled into this pattern and I love it. It is a rounded, shorter, cardigan sweater and it is a wardrobe “must-have.” It would be wonderful for summer evenings, over a camisole style tank top, or layered over a shell or shirt for fall and winter. It is one of those designs that would look sensational with a longer top under it.
This sweater is fairly complex so I would recommend it to experienced or advanced knitters. There is a great deal of shaping to achieve the rounded style and many rows to keep track of, but if you like a challenge, this will be a lot of fun.
The Sunrise Circle Jacket is made with Karabella Soft Tweed, an absolutely lovely yarn. Check your local yarn shop or favorite online dealer. It is displayed at this page, and the variety of colors are shown beautifully. I can’t decide - pink? baby grey? powder blue? All of these colors are gorgeous. The yarn is 100% wool, which means handwash and dry flat. The yarn has a nice texture and is considered a worsted weight.
This pattern calls for a gauge of 18.5 stitches per four inches. It requires both straight and circular needles. Be sure you check your gauge before launching into this pattern. I can’t stress that enough. It would be heartbreaking to have this lovely yarn and all of that knitting work be for naught if the gauge was off.
This pattern is designed by Kate Gilbert. She also has a Web site with more patterns and a blog. I enjoyed visiting her site and blog - she has some beautiful work - check it out because I think you will be impressed. I love her use of color with her designs; yarns are combined in such a way that colors are displayed without them feeling “busy.”
I’m off to file this pattern away. I think this is one that will be very near the top of the list!
