Bead Dolls for Christmas
Christmas is just not Christmas for me, unless I make at least one doll - and preferably more than one! :)
Tammy posted about some cellphone charm dolls that she had made and it made me go - DING!

Many moons ago, I designed a beaded doll to embellish a crocheted freeform bag. It’s in the Vogue Knitting On The Go Crocheted Bags book.

When I read Tammy’s idea for adding a hook to the top of a bead doll, I was delighted!
And, so , I am making beaded dolls that can be hung on cell phones, bags, zippers, cords for necklaces….. where ever they decided they want to be!
Merry Christmas everyone!
hugs all round

Just found your website which I followed from the Lion Yarn site. Do I need to subscribe to the magazine in order to receive patterns for projects.

Hello Sharon
You can subscribe to this blog to receive it as an email and then all the projects that I post will come to you.
I’m not sure if this is what you mean, as I am not clear about what you mean about subscribing to a magazine?

Hi, Noreen. Can you show me how to make a Bead doll like on your photograph of your “Crocheted Bags Books”. I have tons of glass beads and some made of polymer clay I made.
Thanks!

Hi Cookie
I have written out how to make a bead doll.
Here’s the link:

Making a spool knitted cord would be a great way to wear the doll as a necklace!

Thanks, Noreen
As long as I was getting emails from your “Hankering for yarn” newsletters, I never saw the directions on making beadded dolls using buttons for the head. This one is so cute. I also like the bead doll you have laying on top of a crocheted bags pattern book.
Like I mention to earlier. I have tons of beads and shrinky dinks which I can use to cut out hand and feet shapes since I don’t have any metal charms.
getting thin sheet of copper for cutting out hands or feet shapes also sounds like a great idea. I have a scroll saw. I think I have some blades that will cut thru thin pieces of metal. Where can you purchase sheets of copper and is it expensive?
Thanks again, Noreen

Hi Cookie
I checked the store that I bought the copper foil from, and they don’t sell it anymore. So, I did a websearch, and FINALLY tracked it down at Dick Blick:

You can cut the hands out with scissors. Also, did you see the Tottie Tomato entry where I made Phineas’s hands from a pop can? You can easily cut pop cans with scissors…..
