A very quick and easy potholder to weave on the potholder loom
To make this potholder, you will need:
A potholder loom, a weaving hook, a crochet hook, a split ring (keychain thingie), a darning needle, 2 shades of 100% cotton or wool. (no synthetics) This potholder was woven with Lily Sugar ‘n Cream in Cream and Black.
Check out the tutorial if you aren’t familiar with weaving with yarn on the potholder loom.

Warp with the cream colored yarn, and weave with the black yarn. (Wrap the loom from top to bottom with the cream, and pull the black yarn through, because it’s easier to see what you are doing with the cream than the black.)
DO NOT CUT THE YARN AT THE UPPER LEFT HAND CORNER.

Chain off the stitches up the first side and across the top.

Because the right hand side and top side of the weaving are now secure, you can lift the left and lower sides off the loom.

Hold the split ring up against the upper left hand corner of the square. Insert the crochet hook through the ring, yarn over the hook, pull through the ring, and through the loop on the hook.

Take the hook over the ring, yarn over, and through the loop on the hook. Continue these two motions until the ring is covered. You’ve just worked single crochet over the ring.
When the ring is packed (13 or 14 sc will do it), cut the yarn, leaving a 6 inch tail.

Chain down the left hand side and the lower side.
Don’t know what the heck I mean? Check the tutorial
Weave in the ends, and Voila! you’ve woven a quick and easy potholder!

:)
and there you have it.
hugs all round,
Noreen

Hello Karen
I write a whole blog about spoolknitting, and it’s full of projects, patterns and other things that I have designed. It is copyright, so no, it can’t be reproduced in the newsletter, but you can send people to the blog…..
and here is the url for a spoolknitter that people can make for themselves, using golf tees.
