Hankering for Yarn

A Spoolknitted Friendship bracelet from the heart!

by Noreen on February 7th, 2007

Friendship bracelets are fun to make, and a treat to give. This one is my original design, and is copyright, so it’s for personal use only, not for sale or manufacturing. The images and text are copyright and not to be copied.
I designed this one for Valentines Day, or any day of the year, if you like heart motifs as much as I do!

For this friendship bracelet, I used my Happy Heart spoolknitter, and Lion Brand Lame` metallic yarn.

the Lame` yarn is very thin, so you will probably want to use this handy hint:

Spoolknitting fine yarns

Spoolknit a cord that is 12 inches long.

If you have spoolknitted a longer cord and need to cut it, refer to my blog entry on how to cut a cord:

Cutting Spoolie Cord

Fold the cord in 1/2, and shape the fold into a point by stitching it. Stitch an ‘e’ bead, if desired:

To shape the first half of the heart, fold a loop over and stitch to secure it.

Form the 2nd 1/2 of the heart by folding the other end of the cord over and taking it through the first fold. Stitch at all the crossing points to secure them.

Stitch the findings to the ends. Stitch over and over, to make sure the ends are well anchored.

Voila! A beautful friendship bracelet!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

hugs all round!

    Hi, Noreen!
What a cute Friendship Bracelet you made. That Lame’ from Lions brand is some pretty yarn.
I’m also writing you tell how cute my Cordmaker with the face you made for me. I love it! You even got the hair down and it’s larger than I thought it would be. It’s so cute!
Since I’m in the Spoolknitter’s Yahoo Group, I’m going to post a photo in my album to show the other ladies.
That’s neat that you’re willing to create custom designs on the products you sell.

    Hi Emmie
I love it that you are focusing on friendship! Popping a friendship bracelet into an envelope is a great idea - everyone loves getting a treat in the mail!
    :) blessings, Noreen

    Hi Cookie!
I am so pleased that you like your Cordelia Cordmaker! They are GREAT for making friendship bracelets and bookmarks.
I love making them unique. I don’t think I could handle making a whole bunch of things that were all the same. That’s just not where it’s at for me! I look forward to seeing your pics :D
