Hankering for Yarn

A Mighty Mamma Rune Spoolie

by Noreen on October 28th, 2007

I’ve been talking with a lady who wants me to make her some one of a kind spoolknitters.

She’s been reading the Tottie Tomato Tales
and loves how Phineas and Tottie’s relationship is unfolding. She mentioned that she’d like a whole lot of images on her spoolie that speak about relationships in her life.

I mulled this idea over and then it struck me: A really great way to tell a concentrated story is to use runes and pictograms.

I got all inspired and made this Mighty Mamma spoolie (it’s not for her, it’s just because the idea of combining runes and pictograms really ignited my imagination)

Because it’s a Mighty Mamma, it’s a fairly large spoolie… about 6 inches in diameter and about 3 inches tall (if you include the pegs).

Making it was a wonderfully contemplative process. It was a great ‘de-compressor’, which was welcome, as we are in the throes of fixing up my darlin’ now departed Mum-in-law’s house so we can sell it. That’s an unbelievable choker of a stressor. erg. So, thank heavens for Tottie Tomato and for lovely ethereal things like Rune spoolies! whew.

Hugs all round,

Noreen
