Hankering for Yarn

A Glorious blossom and dolls I wove in celebration of my wonderful daughter

Last weekend, we were thrilled when the Night Blooming Cereus plant in my studio opened and bloomed. It was unbelievable!
It felt like birthing energy, and like being in the presence of the Divine!
Night blooming Cereus plants are odd looking plants that have really neat ‘architecture’, and an amazing blossom. The blossoms are HUGE, lavish, spectacular, and are only open for 1 night!
When this one was open fully (we watched it opening before our eyes!) the flower was 10 inches across, and smelled sublime!

What a gift!
The best part was that our wonderful daughter and her boyfriend/life partner were here to witness the blooming with us!

Some things are just better when they are shared!

Especially something so spectacular! You want to share it with someone who really appreciates beauty. :)

I enjoy the company of our daughter and son and their sweethearts so much!

When I was photoshopping the images for the entry that I blogged on www.hankeringforyarn.com
earlier today, this picture of the Mother and her son that I designed and wove for my book, ‘Storytelling with Dolls’, really jumped out at me. It says just how I feel about my kids.
Actually, the lad in the picture bears and uncanny resemblance to my son when he was a youngster! :)

And, when my daughter saw the faces on these dolls:

She cracked up.
‘Um, Mum, is it my imagination, or is that my face?’

Busted.
So, I called them an homage to wonderful daughters, everywhere.
What’s a Mum to do?
I’ve posted more pics of them to my website:

I feel so blessed.
I hope that beautiful flowers open near you, too!
hugs
