Inspiration- Artcraft on Salt Spring Island

Salt Spring Island is one of my most favorite places on the whole planet.
My dear friend, Terri Bibby, lives there and has been participating in ARTCRAFT
She did an installation of her Saori Peace Banners that  is magical. Here’s the link to her blog entry about it:

as well as a note of advice about self publishing: Myra’s class
Here’s the belt that I designed for the book:

I made the leaf buckle, too. I  actually made it several times.

Fabulous new crocheted belt book

Last summer, at the Knit and Crochet show in Manchester, NH, a group of designers that have become friends over the years got together for lunch.
We decided that we should put together a book and self publish it. It’s taken a lot longer than we expected, but it’s really wonderful.

Designers and self publishing.

Over tea, coffee, deserts and great conversation a bunch of designers got together and decided to self publish a book of belt designs.
I posted about that in Press Release.
We’ve learned a lot in the process, so we’re going to keep at it. We’ll be announcing another new book quite soon. Stay tuned!
A […]

Tatted and Crocheted shawl- new butterfly

I’ve been working away on a crocheted and tatted freeform lace butterfly shawl.
It’s been frustrating and challenging, because it just hasn’t been going the way I thought it should.
But! I have had a couple of breakthroughs that I am really pleased about.
The first is that I have finally settled on the thread that I am […]

What motifs move you?

On one of the email groups that I belong to, someone posed an interesting question about color combinations that really captivate us.  This made me think about the red shawl that I am working on… which is all about butterflies.
Which brought up for me that butterflies are, hands down, hooks up, my most beloved design […]

Crocheting in public then frogging at home

Yesterday, my husband’s jazz trio was playing at an outdoor art and design festival:

That’s my Beloved in  the green shirt.  Look at the sky through the scrim of the stage behind them……
When they started playing (and they were FABULOUS!) the sky was slightly overcast, but it was warm and pleasant.
BUT, as they began their second […]

Lion Brand’s Monster Dolls

Have you caught the link yet for the fun fur crocheted monster dolls on the Lion Brand site? Very cute!
I’d love to know who designed them! Lion Brand doesn’t share that info, and I know lots of people would REALLY like it if they did. Well, whoever the designer is, they hit the cute button […]

Barbie and knitting

This morning, a lady posted a note to one of the lists I am on, saying that there’s a new Barbie doll that’s all about knitting.
I needed to go see that!  :o)
Confession time…. when I was 10, 11 and 12, I designed and knitted clothes for my Barbie, and sold them to my classmates at […]
