Inspiration! Intertwined

There is a LOT of buzz on the email lists these days about a neat new book from Lexi Boeger of PluckyFluff. The book is her newest book about spinning art yarns.
It’s called Intertwined and  when you google,  it comes up on Amazon:  Link
It sounds absolutely wonderful! Everything that I have read about it makes […]

Carving a teacup crochet hook

I was so excited about being nominated for a blog award that I had to make something to celebrate.
I thought about it for a minute, and decided that my usual form of celebration involves making myself a really good cup of one of my fave teas…..
soooooooooooooooooooo……..
I decided that I should carve a crochet hook that […]

Carving a new Snowman crochet hook

We’re in the middle of a blizzard right now. The snow is so intense that I haven’t been able to see out the studio windows all day - they’re covered with snow!  (good insulation!)
Actually, I’m not all that thrilled with what I CAN see, as it is mostly white, fierce and blowing horizontally! We can’t […]

Inspiration! Myra Wood

A dear friend of mine, Myra Wood, is a bundle of delight and energy. She’s a dynamo and a wonder.
Myra is not only a terrific designer, but she’s also a splendido teacher, and has just released a glorious book of crocheted lace.

Bucilla crochet hooks- 2

Well…
the guy who broke his wife’s favorite
vintage crochet hook
had better have big brown eyes and
be incredibly cute…
because,
judging by the feedback that I have been hearing…

His chances of finding a Bucilla #3 hook
are VERY slim.

I’ve gone through all of my steel hooks
and there are a bunch of Boye, Susan Bates, tons of Milwards, Roma, Flora, Morral’s, […]

Giselbertus’s Eve Revisited

A posting or two ago, I showed pics of a tapestry that I embroidered long ago and far away, when I was in art school: Lady Godiva

I decided that some day, I would give it to my first born child.  She now owns it, and it feels like a  promise has been kept.
It took about […]

Inspiration! tapestry crochet

Carol Ventura has been researching tapestry crochet for decades. She writes wonderful books about it, and teaches and travels and explores and expands it.
On her blog recently, she wrote about a fantastically gifted young artist, Stacey Glasgow aka Sriyana who crochets tapestry crochet mandalas.
Truly wonderful!   Here’s the link: Tapestry crochet

Lady Godiva goes home

More than 30 years ago, when I was young and children were only a distant dream, I sat down and embroidered some tapestries for those dream children.
Not long after, I met the man of my dreams, and we fell in love and have stayed and deepened and grown in love.
AND…. the best part is……. we […]

I ate haggis and lived to tell….

Today was Robbie Burns day, the celebration of the birth of the Scottish Bard, Robert Burns…….

With a  name like ‘Crone-Findlay’, there can be no doubt about our Celtic/Gaelic heritage.   (Yes, Crone is my ‘real’ birth name, courtesy of my Irish granddad, and Findlay is courtesy of Jim’s Scottish granddad).
Earlier this week, we went to a […]
