‘No skill required’ for the Lily Speed-o-weave loom

I have 2 vintage Lily Speed-o-weave looms that I am quite fond of.  One of the instruction booklets from the older loom (30’s or 40’s ?) states:
“No skill required”.   And then, it goes on to show a totally impossible warping system. Both Jim and I were almost standing on our heads, trying to figure it […]

Spinning silk for summer

I think I am addicted to spinning silk.
I’m working on all kinds of projects and samples for the workshops (click) that I’ll be teaching at the Knit and Crochet show in Manchester NH this summer.
Could I resist spinning up a little silk for one of the many vests that I’ll have as inspiration in the […]

Spoolknitting the edge for the hemp bag

Yesterday, I was sitting in the doc’s office, waiting to chat with her about the tests she had done during my annual physical check up. She was running 45 minutes late, so I was really glad that I had my Cordelia cordmaker and a cone of rainbow hemp cord. I sat there and spoolied up […]

New designs in the Spring magazines

It’s always fun when I get copies of the new magazines in the mail. Designs that I worked on 6 months ago are now out in the world.
Here are a few new ones:
In the March 2007 issue of Canadian Living Magazine
I designed a pocket sized pinboard loom to weave these […]

Flat Doll on hemp bag with buttons

Oh, I am having such a great time with this bag! I’ve got the base of the first side done (using a Lily Speed-o-weave loom).  I am spoolknitting the embellishments for it. This will be my ‘project’ schlepping bag for the Knit and Crochet show next summer.
Here’s the first flat spoolknitted dolly on the bag.
I’ve […]

Frivolous

Last week, I was feeling really sad about the death of our dear old dog. Things felt mighty flat. I thought that I would use some yarn that I had spun from his fur, and spoolknit some little doggie angels. It’s too soon………
So, I decided to take a little break from meeting deadlines, and just […]

Spoolknitted Flat Dolls for the Hemp Bag

In my previous posting, I uploaded pics of the hemp bag that I am making as my ‘conference’ bag for the Knit and Crochet show next July.
I love the sassy little dancers on the handles:

So, I decided that I should spoolknit little flat dolls to go onto the bag………..
I found 4 buttons in my button […]

Teeny Ice Cream Parlour Chair

A week or so ago….
I made this little chair
and couldn’t decide what color to paint it.
So I asked: What color?
and heard back , over and over:
R E D !
So, I painted it red, and I agree.
Red is good!
I am spoolknitting a little cushion for it…..
Thanks for the advice!
hugs all round
