Check out Lacis
for gorgeous tatting shuttles!
Lacis is the most magical store on the face of the earth.
It’s very ‘Harry Potter’, with every kind of lacemaking tool known to humanity. It also has a sublime lace museum.
Bliss……….

Helma Siepmann’s book:
Tatting:Artistry in Thread
is mind boggling. She uses her tatting shuttles as paint brushes, and sculpting tools. She creates freeform paintings in tatting that are simply amazing.
This book is available at Lacis.com, as are a ton of other splendido tatting books (and another Helma Siepmann book, too)

Gorgeous stuff!
hugs all round,

Tatting is not just for fine threads.
I bought a ‘Lady Hoare’ style tatting shuttle at Lacis a few years back, and fell in love with the creative possibilities of it!
At first, I found it to be slower and a touch clumsier to work with the Lady Hoare shuttle. BUT, it is worth mastering it, as […]

My friend Jacqui lives in Australia. She is really concerned about the plight of the Merino sheep and the people whose life revolves around them.
There is a ferocious drought in Australia and people are going through a dreadful time.
Jacqui adopted a sheep to help out:

My little neices and nephew are big fans of penguins.
So for Christmas, I have crocheted penguins for them.
I modified the pattern that I designed for my book:
Crocheted Fur and Feather Friends
If you would like to crochet quick Penguin Presies,
you can order a pdf for the pattern ($3.75)

We are snowed under!
That’s a ‘mini-glacier’ sliding off the hayshed roof.
Last night, we had a huge snowstorm that whirled up great
banks of snow. Our house is built into a hillside, and the lower level is my studio. It’s passive solar, and the studio has southfacing, slanted windows. And, I can’t see out them.
Why? because they […]

A dear friend of mine in Australia just sent me this link:
http://adoptasheep.blogspot.com/
The drought is killing the precious Merino sheep, and so this family is asking for help to get through the next 100 days.
We came through a drought that has left our water table low, so I have deep empathy with what this family […]

Welcome! I am delighted to host the December Holiday Artists Showcase of b5 bloggers who write for the craft channel of b5.
I’ll start off with a few entries that I posted recently with designs for some very easy holiday presies:

which is probably one of the sillier little gifts that you’ll buzz up against!
Another quick and […]
