I love Folkwear patterns. I use them all the time in my sewing, and I also use them as templates for woven garments.
Their website is:

To make this vest, I wove a tapestry panel for the upper back, and worked with a pick up technique on my inkle loom for the figurative strips.
I stitched together the […]

This is a vest that I wove for my husband, using a combination of cotton, rayon and linen.
I wove a medley of bands on my inkle loom. I noodled them around in different combinations until I was pleased with the layout, then stitched them together on the sewing machine.
I then went ahead and finished up […]

It’s been said that we stand on the shoulders of the giants….. so, it makes sense to me that on my shoulders, and over my heart, I would want to wear homages to women in history and myth who have inspired me. A few years ago, I designed a series of knitted […]

I am making my daughter a stole to wear to a ball. I am feeling concerned about the tight timeline on this, so needed to speed up the process.
I am doing masses of spoolknitting, and I have been working on just 2 pegs of my spoolie. So, I thought: Hmmm…. why don’t I design a […]

My daughter is going to a Ball with her fiance.
I am spooling and weaving a stole for her to wear to the ball, as an early Christmas presie. I’ve been blogging about it on my spoolie blog:

It’s been quite the adventure! All kinds of yarn combining, swatching, spooling, weaving, and inventing…..
hugs all round

I just received my copy of the Fall 2006 issue of Cutting edge.
I have 2 designs in it. One’s a neck warmer, which is certainly something I could use right now (it’s beastly cold here!)
and the other is a backpack with an intarsia apple design.
I just love the backpack, and had a lot of fun […]

Totally off topic, but I just have to share this:
My brother just sent me this pic of one of his new pens.
He and his wonderful wife make them on the lathe.

I spoolknitted wings for the comfort doll:
and made a heart that is embellished with spoolknitting. It’s a pocket so we can put little notes in it for Mum……
Mum is really happy with her……..
And that brings me joy.
Making the comfort doll for Mum has been very healing for me….
and Mum says that having her feels very […]

Time for her arms
And her legs and a great big heart button:
She’s about 16 inches tall, and is surprisingly cuddly.
Haylie Spoolknitted BalerTwine Bear began as this:
The orange baler twine [not the hay that the twine is holding together :) ]
together with imagination and a poifeck spoolknitter (One of the Mighty Mamma Spoolknitters
that Jim and I […]

Putting the parts of a teddy bear together is exciting. Now, the personality of the bear really starts to emerge.
There are all kinds of subtleties that you stitch into the expression of the bear that make her uniquely your own.
The placement of the eyes, and ears and the goofy little grin…. all make her a […]
