Cats and beads DO NOT mix!

If you heard a blood curdling scream earlier today, that was me.
Okay, a blood curdling scream, followed by a word that my mother does NOT use.
Well, a blood curdling scream, a strangled cry, and a frantic scramble…….
Here’s the scoop.
I am working my spinnies into whinnies, meeting very very tight deadlines on some new designs for […]

Gourmet Crochet

I love Carolyn Christmas’s work.
She designed the Easy Tunisian hooks, which are just delicious to work with. I’ve been doing a ton of designing with them, for books and magazines. I’ll be designing some freebies for this blog and for www.sacreddollsandbears.com after I finish up the last few projects that I am working on for […]

Little Wire Angel dolls: Remembering my Dad

Three watercolor paintings have always hung on the wall of my parent’s living room. They shaped my imagination and are part of the strongest ’sense memory’ of my childhood.
My Dad painted them when he was a very young man, stationed with the Royal Canadian Airforce in Iceland, during WW2.
I was thrilled last week when my […]

Angels are everywhere

And so I knitted this one in wire…….

photograph copyright Noreen Crone-Findlay;Do NOT use without Noreen’s permission!
Knitting angel dolls in wire is a slow, contemplative, meditative act.
Working with wire can be really hard on your tendons, so there is a an odd energy in making healing dolls with it.
It forces you to be VERY mindful! So, […]

The Charts for the little yellow wrap vest from Cutting Edge

I just got permission from Nicole, the editor at Cutting Edge, to post my charts for the little yellow wrap vest.
Remember: Cutting Edge owns the copyright on this vest, and I own the copyright on the charts, so it’s NOT okay to copy and/or ’share’ them. It is just fine to send them to this […]

The little yellow filet crochet wrap vest that I designed for the Summer Issue of Cutting edge magazine has ~finally been published!
I designed the vest to be multi-sized, as the shoulders and side edges are laced together with chain stitch cords, that have crocheted beads on the end of them.
Here’s the link:

More Flat Dolls: Goddesses and Heroines on our shoulders

It’s been said that we stand on the shoulders of the giants…..
so,
it makes sense to me
that on my shoulders, and over my heart,
I would want to wear homages to women in history and myth
who have inspired me.
A few years ago, I designed a series of knitted dolls to celebrate some of those heroic women. […]

Weaving for Peace

My dear friend, Terri Bibby, of Salt Spring Island, BC, just sent me this note, and I was so inspired that I wanted to share it:
Terri is  going to the World Peace Forum to facilitate the weaving of a Peace Banner (http://www.worldpeaceforum.ca/themes/special-events).  She  is currently  working with SAORI weaving and will have a loom […]

life is busy

If you’ve read my profile or my first post here, you know how many things I do.  I’m an artist, a designer and a puppeteer.  I love what I do and try to do the best job I possibly can.
Part of doing the best job I can do is realizing my limits.  I’ve had a […]
